For high school and college African American males
The Delta Sigma Lambda Chapter Scholarship eligibility criteria are:
- African American male
- Has at least a 2.5 grade point average in high school or college. Legacy scholarships may have additional criteria listed by the donor
- Has been accepted for admission to, or attending as a full-time student an accredited four-year college or university
- Is engaged in community service and extracurricular activities
- Demonstrates leadership and positive character traits
- Sons or male dependents of The Delta Sigma Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, are not eligible to apply
Requirements for DSALPHA scholarship applicants
Complete the Application Form which must be signed by the student and parent or guardian if the student is under 18
- Official high school transcript that includes your grade point average. The transcript must be in pdf format, attached to your completed Application Form
- Provide two letters of recommendation from a school teacher or counselor, and one letter from a non-relative community-based-organization official scanned to pdf format and attached to the application. The completed Recommendation Form in requirement 5, below, can count as one teacher or counsellor letter
- Write a 250-word essay on “what is the single most important social problem,” saved to pdf format and attached to the Scholarship Application Form
- Provide a professional photograph in jpeg format, you only, no group photos please.
- Have one of your teachers or your counselor complete and submit a Reccomendation Form.
